Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia: Liberty Square

I just returned from the World, and on this particular trip I took part in the "Keys to the Kingdom" walking tour. I highly recommend this experience!  I learned so many interesting facts and bits of trivia.  One of the things that I found very interesting was some of the detail that the Imagineers put into Liberty Square.  As you are walking past Columbia Harbor House, look to the buildings on your left.  On the second floor, you will notice that one window has a rifle in it.

During the Revolutionary War Period, it was common practice for men to leave their rifles in the window to indicate that they were home.  If the rifle was missing from the window, it indicated to the neighbors that the man of the house was out hunting, or perhaps, serving in the militia.  The neighbors would then know to offer extra protection to those houses.

It is this attention to detail that makes Disney so amazing.  I know that I for one never even noticed that anything was in the windows of Liberty Square; I would possibly have continued to go back year after year and still missed it.  Now that I am aware though, I appreciate the authenticity and immersion into the story more than ever!

Thanks to Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Heidi from Heidi's Head, Jen from the Disney Babies Blog, and Mike from My Dreams of Disney for hosting this blog hop!

    1. I just kept thinking throughout the tour how I really need to start just looking at things more closely. Who knows how many little things like that I've missed, even though I've been through MK dozens and dozens of times!
