Do you know why Dopey is the only mute dwarf? As they were casting the voices for the movie, they couldn't find a characterization that they felt was just right for Dopey. They therefore decided that Dopey simply wouldn't speak. I learned this bit of information while walking through "The Magic of Disney Animation" at Hollywood Studios about 2 years ago.
