Staying at The Wilderness Lodge

I have stayed pretty much everywhere on Disney property, and I have to say that one of my absolute favorite resorts is the Wilderness Lodge.  Right on the shores of Bay Lake, the lodge is full of woodsy charm, and it even sports a working geyser (a la "Old Faithful").

As you can see, the Lodge is beautiful.  The inside is equally as lovely, and keeps with the theme.

There is a quaint little stream running through the main lobby, which flows out of doors, spills into a waterfall, and eventually appears to pour into the pool.

The accommodations at the Wilderness Lodge are classified as Deluxe.  Rooms are well-appointed, and the service has always been wonderful while I've stayed.  Another perk is that it sits very close to the Magic Kingdom.  There is bus service, but I often prefer to take the ferry, which is convenient and fast.

There are two wonderful sit down restaurants: Artist Point and The Whispering Canyon Cafe.  The Whispering Canyon Cafe serves hearty, family-style portions of "Old West" inspired food (think ribs, chicken, and barbeque beans) in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.  Go ahead and ask for some ketchup... I dare you!

Artist Point provides a quieter, more upscale dining experience, complete with delicious food such as Alaskan salmon and grilled buffalo medallions. This particular dining experience uses 2 credits on the Disney Dining Plan.

Another fun offering is the opportunity to be the "Flag Family".  Every morning, one of the Wilderness Lodge Rangers goes to the rooftop to raise the flags.  Your family can be chosen to assist him with this experience!  Request at the front desk to see if they have any availability during your stay.  You'll have to rise early, but it's worth it!  Just a note: you cannot request this experience until you have physically checked in at your resort.

You will also be treated to some stunning views of Disney property!

If you've never given the Wilderness Lodge a try, I highly recommend it!  If you have, what are your thoughts on staying here?
